Challenge the media. Be empowered.

Jason Schaper’s Creative Studio -- "Feed your imagination and support a living artist." Now in Kauai! "I desire to inspire creativity in others by not depicting specific images, people or places in my art. I want those who view my art to decide what they see on the canvas. What do the colors and brush strokes I use mean to them, what does their mind define it as? By refusing to define my style I leave the door open to interpretation for the viewer, pushing them to truly create their own unique relationship with my art."

Linda M. Tyrrell, PsyD., PSY21178, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, 275 E. California Blvd., Ste. A101, Pasadena, CA 91106, (626) 524-1724 -- a clinical psychologist who works with individuals, families, couples, and groups. Her specialty is working with adolescents and their families. I use "Family Rules: Positive Parenting with a Plan," an effective parenting system utilized by family courts. Linda is developing a program titled "Young Men in Transition," which will provide comprehensive psychological services to help male youth and their families transition through adolescence to successful adulthood.

Toastmasters International -- "Making Effective Communication a Worldwide Reality." At Toastmasters, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. A typical Toastmasters club is made up of 20 to 30 people who meet once a week for about an hour. "Leadership cannot be learned in a day. It takes practice. In Toastmasters, members build leadership skills by organizing and conducting meetings and motivating others to help them. Club leadership roles and a leadership development program also offer opportunities to learn and practice. Just as Toastmasters members learn to speak simply by speaking, they learn leadership by leading."
